Before you sign a recording contract
Investigate the label’s marketing department
Emily Osment making All the Right Wrongs

Was all set to dismiss Emily Osment’s All the Right Wrongs. First, her record label publicity department took a week to get back to me. Second, they blew off credential requests for a Tween Music blog in the blogosphere top five percent. So we’re not the New York Times. Really, how long ago did a Tween read the NYT’s?

Would have loved to seen her at Los Angeles’ House of Blues, but her record label decided against letting me in. Would have been the second time in one week seeing her. Was going to pay, but the label’s attitude turned me off and was ready to totally dismiss Osment.

This morning I heard tracks from the new EP. I love her voice. She utilizes the Hollywood/Disney formula of pop. It is time for SOMEONE to transgress this and transport us into the second decade of the 21st Century as Jimi Hendrix ushered in the 1970s with something brand new.

Wish Ms. Osment luck, but my experience with her record label makes me wonder. We’ll see.

You can learn EVERYTHING on Twitter
Music stars announcing their periods
TweenMusic responsible for Miley leaving Twitter?

First it was Miley Cyrus announcing when it was that time of the month for her. Miley's gone from Twitter and we can't kick her to the curb anymore (see reason Miley Cyrus left Twitter here). Today Pink did it - can you use Pink and period on the Internet?

Pink
The upside of having "ur girly times" is big boobies. That is if you're as flat chested as I am. Positive spin is very important to me

Was going to say what not to do in performance, but he went to #2 and was stopped only by Beatles Yesterday
Not too bad

Selena Gomez uses protection
You should too
Being in band as much about teamwork
As being in sports

Watch this Selena Gomez video. First, it demonstrates teamwork on the part of the band. That's why being in a band is good for teenagers. Not everyone is going to be the football star, so being in a band, even the school marching band, teaches teamwork.

Also, notice the monitor/earplugs she uses. Nothing worse than a reformed anything. I have major hearing loss (gone in one ear forever). Use protection when you play; or go to concerts and shows! Don't take those babies with you. They can stay with family or friends.

October 1
Must be Christmas time
CBS Internet radio
Posts holiday stations

Seems like only yesterday it was 104 (it was). Oct. 1 - must be time for Christmas music. I admit I listen to AOL radio and Yahoo. Both became CBS Internet radio, same as Last.fm, at the beginning of the year. CBS is the #1 broadcaster in the world (read evil empire). CBS has its holiday music up.

For 60 years there's been no performer like this
Father of Rock and Roll guitar
Long live Chuck Berry

Chuck Berry rarely went on tour with a band. He'd use a local pickup group. Check the amp in the first video. That's the audio section of a black and white TV. Also a homemade speaker cabinet. Yes, we used to do things like that.

How to market yourself exceptionally

On Sept. 1, 2009, Miley Cyrus sent this tweet, @mileycyrus Saw a reply from Thomas Hibner and went to his myspace. This kid is gonna be a rockstar! I am super impressed with his song!

Remember, Miley is King Midas. Everything she touches turns to gold - more so than Oprah.

Personally, I don't agree with Ms. Cyrus' taste. For some of the best music in the world, check out MY MySpace friends page. Discover some FANTASTIC musicians.

Building the Band Brand
Whatever happened to street teams?
Replaced by Twitter?

A year ago, before Twitter became the main communications vehicle on earth and before the Web site TMZ went T-MJ - all Michael Jackson all the time, aspiring musicians had street teams.

Seems Twittering has replaced street teams. Your opinion? Please leave a comment.
